# Project Review - Portal ERP

## 1) Executive Overview

The current sprint is centered on dispatch workflow consolidation and financial capture at dispatch time. Core backend and frontend pieces are in place for dispatch creation/update, status tracking, payment capture, and batch workflow alignment. The implementation is in active development with significant source updates and regenerated frontend build artifacts.

Current health:

- Scope delivery: **In progress (good momentum)**

- Frontend readiness: **Medium to high**
- QA readiness: **Medium**
- Release readiness: **Not yet**

## 2) Scope Covered In Current Work

### Dispatch domain

- Dispatch numbering logic now supports plant-specific financial year prefixes.
- Dispatch create/update flows now map nested financial form data into dispatch fields.
- Dispatch status data persists through dedicated status relations.
- Dispatch payment capture is integrated into dispatch save/update flow.

### Payment foundation

- New dispatch payment model introduced: `DispatchPayment`.
- New migration added for `mm_dispatch_payments`.
- Payment method table enhancement migration added (`description`, `is_active`, and audit-related columns).

### Batch workflow integration

- Batch controller supports expanded operational flow:
  - safer stock adjustment behavior for dispatched/completed status
  - work-order production refresh logic
  - image handling for load/empty snapshots
  - batch report/pdf preparation workflow

### Frontend updates

- Batch and dispatch views/components updated to align with revised domain behavior.
- Payment and several master-data forms adjusted.
- Trip pages appear removed/refactored from current working set.
- Frontend production assets were rebuilt (large generated diff under `public/build`).

## 3) Key Technical Deliverables

Backend (`app/` + `database/`):

- `DispatchController` enhancements for dropdowns, numbering, transactional store/update, and payment link.
- `DispatchStoreRequest` rule expansion for nested payloads (`weights`, `financials`, `status`, `payment`).
- `Dispatch` model updates for financial casting and payments relationship.
- New models:
  - `DispatchFinancial`
  - `DispatchPayment`
- New migrations:
  - `2026_05_02_111044_create_mm_dispatch_payments_table.php`
  - `2026_05_02_123906_update_mm_payment_methods_table.php`

Frontend (`resources/js`):

- Major updates in `Pages/Batches` and dispatch-related components.
- Form-level updates across patrons, payments, sites, units, and supporting views.

## 4) Progress Assessment

What is working well:

- Good use of transaction boundaries in dispatch and batch operations.
- Data model direction supports future financial reporting.
- Dispatch-to-payment linkage is now explicit and maintainable.

What is still maturing:

- Quality gates (tests, validation scenarios, migration rollback safety) are not yet complete.
- Build artifacts dominate the diff and obscure source-code review focus.
- Some new/updated migration behavior needs safer rollback handling.

## 5) Risks and Mitigations

1. Migration rollback risk

- Risk: down migration for payment methods may fail if foreign keys exist and only columns are dropped directly.  
- Mitigation: update rollback to drop FKs/indexes safely before columns.

1. Payload consistency risk

- Risk: nested frontend payload structure may drift from backend mapping assumptions.  
- Mitigation: add request tests for minimal/full payload variants and invalid combinations.

1. Data integrity risk in payments

- Risk: current `updateOrCreate` behavior may collapse multiple payment intents into one row per dispatch.  
- Mitigation: decide business rule (single payment vs installments), then enforce DB + service logic.

1. Release noise risk from generated assets

- Risk: reviewing and tracking generated build files in feature commits increases PR noise and conflict probability.  
- Mitigation: isolate build artifacts to dedicated deployment commits/PR step.

## 6) Recommended Next Milestones

### Milestone 1 - Stabilize dispatch financial flow (1-2 days)

- Finalize validation contracts for financial/status/payment payload.
- Add feature tests for dispatch create/update with and without payments.
- Verify all dropdown dependencies and null-safe handling.

### Milestone 2 - Harden migrations and data behavior (1 day)

- Fix rollback paths for altered payment methods migration.
- Confirm FK/index definitions and down paths for new payment table.
- Add migration smoke-check checklist for staging.

### Milestone 3 - QA + release preparation (1-2 days)

- Conduct regression on batch -> dispatch -> payment sequence.
- Validate stock adjustments and work-order produced quantity updates.
- Trim release diff by separating generated assets from source changes.

## 7) Owners and Immediate Action List

Suggested ownership:

- Backend lead: dispatch/payment transaction and migration hardening.
- Frontend lead: dispatch section UX and payload contract conformance.
- QA: end-to-end lifecycle scenarios and negative tests.

Immediate next 3 execution steps:

1. Freeze payload schema between frontend and `DispatchStoreRequest`.
2. Add dispatch/payment feature tests and migration rollback checks.
3. Create a clean PR split: source code PR first, generated assets PR second.

## 8) Definition of Done for This Scope

- Dispatch can be created and updated with valid financial/status/payment data.
- Payment methods and dispatch payment migrations are reliable in up/down cycles.
- Batch-dispatch flow passes regression for stock and work-order production updates.
- QA checklist signed off for core positive and negative scenarios.
- Source and build changes are reviewable and deployment-ready.
